December Newsletter (Meeting Minutes & Spring Plan

Tonight the December meeting of the Barren River Soccer Club was held at Mancinos at 7:00. Those in attendance were;
Craig Trautman
Lawrence Nyken
Jim and Lora Garret
Ryan Simpson
I have a long list of things to cover so I will make this as short and sweet as possible.
Of primary concern and focus is the Spring League we will be hosting. All efforts for an indoor season for this year have been called off....thanks to all those who showed interest and we will try again next year!!! The following are decisions/points made during the meeting.
--Because our main focus is the youth soccer in our community an adult league will be postponed until summer--
Important Dates:
January 15th: Advertising for Spring soccer begins
February 10th: Registrationand money due
March 5th: Practice begins
March 11th: Coaching Clinic
April 14th-May 19th: 6 weeks of play, at least 8 guaranteed games
June 2nd/3rd: Closing recreational tournament coinciding with the Glasgow Highland Games
--The cost per player is $50 which includes a jersey--
The league will be conducted in the following way:
-Each player will have at least two practices a week with the same age or team
-Each training session will be conducted by a licensed club coach: (Nyken, Simpson, McCarley, Garret, etc.)
-Each game shall be coached by a parent/coach with assistance provided from a club coach if need be
-US soccer rules will be followed (number of players, field size, referees, etc.)
Advertising for the league will be hit hard at community schools and other local sites. It is our belief that the selling point for our league will be the instruction on a weekly basis from knowledgeable coaches.

Craig Trautman: Contact Susan Jobe about setting up a meeting for advertising options including a brochure
Lora Garret: Contact Mike Elrod concerning the incorporation of games and training sessions between Monroe County and BRSC
Lawrence Nyken: write a biography
Ryan Simpson: begin work on a mock brochure
