Barren River Soccer Club

     I hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable extended weekend!  This week we will wrap up our first Spring season with league games ending this Thursday and  our tournament going on Saturday.  As the season comes to a close its time to begin thinking how we can improve our league.  I know there have been some headaches this year (gate, schedule, etc...) but we hope that this setup was a vast improvement in the kind of soccer coaching the kids have been seeing and the style of play they have been exposed to.  We will be having a very important board meeting in the weeks following the conclusion of the tournament.  At this meeting we will be discussing needed improvements and implementing new board members and parent volunteers for different tasks.  THE MAIN REASON THAT PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURED IS LACK OF TASK DISBURSMENT AND THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS WE HAVE.  We need parents who have kids that will be involved with local soccer for years to come to step up and help our league become a steadfast organization of the community.  We have dozens of small tasks that need to be done including but not limited to  (COACHING, field lining, scheduling, registration, decision makers, etc.).  I encourage you all to think seriously about becoming more involved in the future of this organization.  Looking ahead, we are thinking about having an open, carefree adult league one night a week in which you can sign up and teams will be made every night depending on who attends....we encourage all those who want to learn a little bit more about the sport or simply to stay in shape to play.  Also, we will be attempting to host a winter indoor league either in November or January.  These are just a few things that you as parents can become involved in.  I will send out the schedule for Thursday and Saturday later.....they are both available on the website.
