Gary Speed Said That His Wife And Children Were The Thing He Cherished Most In His Last Interview
It certainly seemed that a draw was about to go into the record books when the score of Sunday’s La Liga League match between Real Sociedad and Real Betis was locked at 2-2 in second half injury time after the full 90 minutes had been played. But Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez had different plans. After a Betis turnover, he received a pass on the defensive side of midfield. Given the scant time remaining, it certainly seemed a harmless position and there was no immediate Betis pressure on the ball. Sensing that his opponent was set to walk off the pitch and head for the dressing room, Martinez launched a shot from about 60 yards out. His sterling strike caught opposing goalkeeper Casto Espinosa out of position. The ball sailed directly over Espinosa’s head, grazed the bottom of the crossbar and fell into the net for the game-winning, extra-time goal.
“The ending to the game was just cruel,” Betis coach Pepe Mel said after the match.
Although the goal was absolutely incredible, what is even more stunning is that Martinez scored an eerily similar goal less than two months ago! Down 1-0 to Athletic Bilbao in early October, Martinez scored on a perfect shot from just beyond midfield to tie the game.

Die-hard fans of America’s brand of football revel in every opportunity to mock the dives taken by soccer players attempting to simulate a foul in order to get a call from the referee. NFL fans regularly cite such histrionics as the reason why the football played throughout the world will always be inferior to the football played in the United States.
Well, I wonder what all those folks will think of the dive taken by Bengals wide receiver during Cincinnati’s narrow win over the Browns.
With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Simspon tried to portray a slight push by Browns tight end Evan Moore as if he were hit by an 18-wheel truck.
Rather than throw a yellow penalty flag as Simpson was clearly hoping for, the referees should have shown him a yellow caution card.
Fabio Santos scored an impressive goal on a header to help Vitoria beat Criciuma in a Brazilian Serie B match over the weekend, but it’s not the beauty of his goal that will make this video go viral. Instead, it will most likely be his celebration gaffe that will get fuel this clip’s journey around the Internet.
After the goal, Santos ran over to the stands behind the net and appeared to try and have fun with the fans. Perhaps, he’s alwasy thought that the “Lambeau Leap” looked cool. But the seats were a little too high for Santos, who jumped up but couldn’t reach, embarrassingly falling into a bush. Thankfully, he wasn’t caught up in the bushes at the foot of the wall as badly as that tight end from the University of Georgia got stuck in the iconic hedges at Sanford Stadium.
Santos, however, did a descent job of playing hit klutz moment and after all, his team still walked away with the victory.
